Here's a little bit about us:

How We Started: One Critter Atta Time Animal Rescue (shortened to One Critter or OCATAR) was opened August 28^th, 2007.  Some of our first animals came from a Kernersville rescue that officially closed on November 4^th, 2007.  We took the remaining cats and dogs from this organization that had not yet found homes.

 

Who We Are:  We are a non-profit animal rescue operating out of the triad region of North Carolina.  We received our state non-profit status in winter 2007/08.  Our next step is to apply for a 501(c)(3), which gives us federal non-profit status and allows us to hold weekly adoption fairs at the big pet companies like PETCO.  Hopefully in the near future, you will see us at the Kernersville PETCO on the weekends.  The rescue’s staff is completely made up of a small number of volunteers — no one involved in the rescue is paid any salary or compensation.  Our director and president, Michelle Pritchett, has many years of experience with animals and with several well-known animal rescues and shelters including the SPCA and Guilford County Animal Shelter and several veterinary clinics.  

 

Our Mission: One Critter Atta Time Animal Rescue’s mission is to reduce the number of homeless animals.  We have two main objectives.  The first is to provide basic care (including food, water, shelter, and medical care) to needy animals from high-kill shelters until they can be placed in permanent homes.  The second company objective is to reduce the number of unwanted animals by spaying/neutering all rescued animals before they are adopted out.
